Since 1983, the Bushey Festival has grown to become one of the country’s largest Festivals organised entirely by volunteers. Run during the first fortnight in July, the aim is always to produce a varied programme of events for the local community. To many people, the Festival is the highlight of the Bushey calendar and is a much loved part of Bushey community life.
In 2008 the Festival was proud to receive recognition by the Mayor of Hertsmere, being presented with the Civic Award for ‘Services Undertaken for the Benefits of the Residents of the Borough’. We have also been a registered charity since 1990 (charity no. 802826).
In additional to the funds raised through the Festival’s activities, we have been fortunate in recent years for the financial support we have obtained from various sources, including a three year grant from Hertsmere Borough Council. We also have a Friends’ Scheme where members pay an annual subscription – currently £8 single and £15 joint. All proceeds from events we organise go towards supporting the Festival. Consequently, we are in a good position to grow and develop our involvement in the community.
Would you consider helping with future Festivals? It’s fun, is a great way to get involved in the local community and get to know new people.
